Dervla Ireland

Dervla Ireland is currently an Internal Medicine Trainee based in the North West. She is currently a LNC representative as well as a National junior doctor committee representative elected via the Annual Representative Meeting. She has been active in the BMA since her later years in medical school and has represented colleagues both locally and nationally through the junior doctors committee and local negotiating committees. She is also a member of the Labour party. Her candidate statement for 2022/23 session is below:

Hi, I’m Dervla, a FY3 based in Dorset. I’ve been on JDC for two years now with tackling real term pay cuts as a priority.

If re-elected my priorities are:

Full pay restoration: We now have policy to organise members to achieve full pay restoration if not offered by the government.

Local organising: improving communications to representatives and improving training of representatives.

Improved contract knowledge: every junior doctor who knows the contract can challenge it. This is key.

If voted I’ll be transpararent on how I vote and what work I do so you can hold me to account.

Thanks.
