Welcome to the Doctors Broadsheet, a website created by members of the Broad Left within the BMA.

The Broad Left is holding an active role in organising junior doctors to achieve full pay restoration. Junior Doctors in England have faced successive real term pay cuts amounting to at least 26.1% since 2008. We are calling for a pay uplift to restore pay to 2008 levels.

The BMA in England is currently gearing up towards a national ballot of junior doctors on whether to partake in industrial action as part of the ongoing full pay restoration campaign. The ballot will open on the 9th January 2023 and will run for 6 weeks. To find out more about the pay campaign, visit the BMA website by clicking here.

Some of our members are leading the calls for Devolved Nations to join the fight for full pay restoration including the newly elected Chair to Scottish Junior Doctors’ Committee, Dr. Chris Smith. See the latest updates on the Scottish pay campaign here.
